We design and fabricate security‑rated steel doors, CE‑marked fire doors (FD30–FD240), flood‑resistant doors, acoustic doors and our sleek Slimline Schüco Jansen range, ensuring each product meets the most demanding commercial and industrial requirements.

Our steel hinged doors offer extended fire ratings and certified LPCB security (LPS1175 SR1–SR4), while the Slimline range delivers slim profiles without compromising safety or energy efficiency. Every doorset can be customised with manual or electronic locking systems, glazed or louvred panels, and hundreds of RAL and BS powder‑coat colours.

HISTORY

Operating for almost 36 years, Design and Supply are an industry leading manufacturer and supplier of industrial doors and architectural products.

Throughout the decades we have developed our products to cater for almost any requirement, from our Acoustic and CE marked fire rated and security rated range (LPS1175 SR1, 2, 3 and 4) to our ultra modern, aesthetically pleasing, fire rated Slim Line range. Our doors are fitted by our experienced fitters and come with a manufacturer’s guarantee.

Terry Stares starts up D&S
In 1986, Terry Stares initiated D&S, operating from leased WDA premises and utilising rented equipment.
Kevin Edwards joins D&S
1986 marked the addition of Kevin Edwards to the team.
Christopher Weed joins D&S
Christopher Weed joined in 1987, strengthening the workforce.
Moved to Merthyr Tydfil
In 1990, the company relocated to Merthyr Tydfil on Goat Mill Road, where its primary focus shifted to sub-contracting sheet metal work.
Moved to Pant Industrial Estate
1997 saw a significant move to the Pant Industrial Estate, which marked the beginning of the Steel Door Business, eventually surpassing sub-contracting.
Won a big order for Celtic Manor Hotel
The year 1998 was marked by a major achievement - securing a substantial order for the Celtic Manor Hotel.
Gained Fire Certification of our doors
By 2003, the company obtained Fire Certification for its doors, further enhancing its credibility.
Gained Security Certification of our doors
In 2004, Security Certification was earned, cementing the reputation of their doors.
Expanded our range of Fire Doors by investing in more testing
The company's commitment to safety and quality continued in 2005 with an expansion of their Fire Doors range, made possible by additional investments in testing.
Expanded our range of Security Doors by investing in more testing
In 2011, the Security Range of doors was expanded with more rigorous testing, strengthening their product portfolio.
Won prestigious award for Flood Doors
The year 2013 brought a prestigious award for Flood Doors, recognising the company's dedication to innovation and excellence.
Acquired Jodan Contracts Ltd
In 2015, a significant development occurred as Jodan Contracts Ltd was acquired.
Acquired full shares of Design and Supply from Terry Stares
In 2016, the acquisition of full shares of Design and Supply from Terry to further solidified our position in the industry.
Reshaped our Sales team, Branding, Marketing and Image to our vision
The year 2017 was marked by a strategic overhaul, reshaping the sales team, branding, marketing efforts, and overall image in alignment with the company's vision.
Focused on the Slimline arm of the business with sales team
The focus in 2017 was directed towards the Slimline arm of the business, with dedicated sales efforts to promote its growth.
19.2% Turnover Increase
This strategic shift resulted in a turnover increase of 19.2% for 2017.

In 2018 our turnover increased by 20.9%
Enhancing our Slimline Portfolio
In 2019, the Slimline portfolio was further enhanced through rigorous security tests, contributing to a turnover increase of 4%
Turnover maintained.
In the year 2020 maintained our turnover, although it was notably impacted by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Scott Davies & Damian Regis appointed as Directors
In 2023, Scott Davies was appointed as the Sales Director and Damian Regis was appointed as the Operations Director, further enhancing the company’s leadership team.
